How Does Encounter Work?
Encounter meets every Monday night and offers groups during the week called Encounter Studies. Through Encounter’s four pillars: Spiritual Growth, Recovery, Evangelism, and Community, God will heal and transform your life.
Is there childcare at Encounter?
Childcare will be provided at every Encounter service. For children 6 and older Encounter will plan on building an Encounter Kids curriculum based on the same 12 Anchors of Hope their parents are learning.
Does Encounter have a teen program?
Encounter is praying for the launch of Encounter Teens sometime in 2019.
Does Encounter cost anything?
The Encounter program has no cost.
If I don’t struggle with an addiction, a strong stronghold, or a major problem should I come to Encounter?
Yes! Most people don’t have a major addiction but everyone has experienced hurts in life. Unresolved hurts can cause major emotional, spiritual, relational, social, and even physical damage to our lives. They lead to bad coping mechanisms, unhealthy character defects, and damaged relationships. Encounter helps people heal of unresolved hurts and brokenness that negatively affects their lives.
Encounter is not just a place for people who need healing. It is a place to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is a place to learn and serve. It is a place to live the abundant life that Jesus Christ died for. It is a place to take our faith to new heights. It is a place of surrender and submission to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
How long does it take to work the Encounter program?
Healing and deliverance can happen instantly. Character, integrity, and learning to live and love like Christ can take a lifetime. Although people never “graduate” from the Encounter program, it will take one year to work through the teaching curriculum and take three months to complete the Encounter Written Bible Study.
If I come to Encounter will I have to introduce myself by my sins and what I struggle with?
No! You are either a follower of Jesus or you are not and both are welcome. We are defined by what Christ has done for us and who He says we are In Christ.
If we are a couple that is struggling, can Encounter help?
If one person in the family is struggling, everyone in the family is struggling. Encounter has helped many couples and families heal from the adversities and brokenness that so many families have experienced.
Are Encounter Groups like traditional 12 Step Groups?
No. Encounter groups like a small group, life group, or regular gathering of honest people who want to get well. They share honestly and authentically in a safe place.
If I am in a relationship with someone that struggles, can Encounter help me?
Yes! Many come to Encounter come for this reason. It is hard to distinguish between love and enabling. Encounter can help someone learn how to set healthy boundaries and better deal with another person’s issues. Codependency is a huge issue and God has provided a pathway for us to overcome this difficult issue by applying the 12 Anchors of Hope to our lives.
