The Guiding Light

Encounter,

Acts 10:37-38 You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached--how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

Many will argue that Jesus did what he did because he was God and he exercised his divine powers.

But when Jesus was sent he was sent yes as the Son of God but he was sent in the form of a real man who had to figure out how to walk in the flesh and walk in the Spirit just like we have to.

Jesus had to learn trust, obedience, dependence on God, resist temptations, let God’s word save him in tough situations, lean on his Father just like we all have to learn to do.

When Jesus lived on planet earth he depended on the Holy Spirit, prayer, the word of God and his personal relationship with his Father to accomplish everything he did. The glue that held it all together for Jesus was the Holy Spirit. Here is what this means to you and me. Jesus’s life on earth could be summarized as one who was Spirit empowered, Spirit led, and Spirit controlled.

Even Jesus (The Perfect Son of God) had a Guiding Light and if Jesus needed a Guiding Light to accomplish God’s will…how much more do we need the Holy Spirit to come upon us, to lead us, and guide our lives into the perfect will of God?

I hope you will join us this Friday as we resume our Holy Spirit series talking about the “Guiding Light.” As many of you know we started live streaming our services on our Facebook page. facebook.com/thehopeencounter
